The University of São Paulo
School of Nursing

The University of São Paulo School of Nursing (EEUSP) is located in São Paulo, Brazil, a country known for its environmental and cultural diversity, as well as its significant social and economic inequalities. These social disparities present numerous challenges to improving individual and population health and well-being.

According to the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2024, EEUSP is ranked as the best institution in Latin America for studying nursing. It is part of the University of São Paulo, which is also ranked number one in Latin America. This public university is nationally and internationally recognized for its excellence in teaching, research, innovation, and dissemination of knowledge. It is committed to training professionals capable of addressing society’s challenges and achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Our approach to providing the highest level of nursing training, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels, is distinguished by our significant global collaborations and strong community engagement. This makes EEUSP an exciting and inclusive environment for international students and researchers, who can benefit from experiences in well-established research networks, hospitals, community settings, public health, and more. They can also participate in workshops, lectures, and learning events with students from other health-related courses within the university, fostering a sense of global community and shared learning.

EEUSP is home to the largest nursing-related library in Latin America and the Ibero-American Historical-Cultural Centre of Nursing. We offer a comprehensive bachelor’s degree program in nursing and five graduate programs, each focused on excellence in research and training. Our areas of expertise include Primary Health Care, Maternal and Infant Care, Mental Health, Nursing Management, Nursing Workforce, Patient Safety, Acute and Chronic Care, among others.

It is noteworthy that Brazil has one of the largest unified health systems in the world. More than 200 million people have full access to primary health care coverage and a well-organized range of services. The nursing workforce is at the core of this complex healthcare system, representing almost 70% of healthcare workers. The country has 3 million registered nursing professionals.
